Mike Smith

Hello! My name is Mike.I’m the daily English teacher for the K1 students, and I also teach the Junior after-school English class.

I’m from Seattle, Washington, and I speak English.

In my free time, I enjoy walking and running, listening to music, reading, riding my bike, and exploring new places around Japan with my wife and our two daughters.

I really enjoy working with young children. They always say funny and interesting things, and they love being silly and having fun. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is watching them grow, gain confidence, and learn new things—including English!

I truly enjoy working here at KEA. Every member of the staff genuinely cares about the children and is dedicated to providing them with the best education possible. One thing I especially appreciate is that we don’t just get to know the children—we also build relationships with their families. This helps us better understand each child and create the best possible environment for them to learn and grow.

I have been working at KEA for seven years, and during that time I’ve had the privilege of watching not only my own two daughters grow up, but many of your children as well. It has been wonderful to see them become more confident, learn English, and grow into kind and respectful young people. Being part of that journey is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.
